Our model explores the spatial implications of using fabric to form catenary curves. We investigated the physical properties of fabric under tensile forces by attaching chains at specific points on the fabric and pulling them at various heights and angles. This revealed to us how the edges and folds of the fabric continue the catenary curves of the chains that pull them. Due to the flexible nature of this fabric, multiple pockets are formed around these curves, giving them a more apparent spatial reading and a sense of volume that we explore in our variations. This understanding informed our approach to form-finding, where both physical and digital methods were employed to visualize how fabric can be manipulated to create, span, and divide spaces.
