The membrane sequence reimagines the system developed in the hanging sequence. The form of the structure is inspired by the Station in Stuttgart designed by Frei Otto. Starting with a 3*3 grid frame, one piece of fabric is attached, stretched upwards and downwards using certain nodes connecting to the top and bottom control points. The position of the nodes is determined by the 2D geometric sequence from the previous exercise. The hooks generate reciprocal relationships between fabrics by pulling both upwards and downwards. In this way, the structure generates a canopy; the lower part of the fabric, which is a mirrored projection of the upper part, is imagined to act as supporting components. The stretching qualities of the fabric are tested to produce the ambient spaces beneath and above the material.
